Third Grade Learning and Creating

In math the third grade students have been learning to solve multiplication problems by using their knowledge of drawing groups, making arrays and using repeated addition. We also have been learning all about shapes by comparing and contrasting their attributes. The students have created various projects to further their understanding of these math skills.
In science class the students have been learning about rocks and minerals. They have completed two different science experiments to explore rocks. The students created a model of a rock and then observed the rock. They also observed some rocks and described them.
Miss Horne’s third grade social studies class has been learning about different types of communities. They have made postcards, flyers, and journal entries to tell about the different benefits of living in Urban, Suburban, and Rural areas. They have used creativity and writing skills to show their knowledge of the different characteristics of these community types.
