School Based Health Center Opening
Toronto City School District has a a school-based health center (SBHC) at Toronto Jr.-Sr. High School operated by CHANGE, Inc. The SBHC opened at the start of the 2018-2019 school year. This is the first SBHC east of Columbus and south of Cleveland in Ohio. The SBHC is staffed five days per week from 7AM-3PM daily with a nurse practitioner, a medical assistant, and a licensed social worker. The SBHC is currently located in the Toronto Jr.-Sr. High School office complex but will move into a clinic in the Toronto Elementary School wing when the building opens in January of 2020. In order for students to receive treatment at the SBHC, parents must give consent by completing a packet of forms.
