Preschool registration will be held this year on March 4th and May 6th in the Karaffa Elementary office from 10:00-5:00. The entrance door number 6 will be open for easy access to the parents entering. We will have a sign outside to help guide the way.

The Toronto Board of Education met in special session Thursday, September 12 to hire Ann Silverthorn as the new principal at Toronto Elementary School. Ann is filling a position left vacant by the unexpected resignation of former principal Chris Dopp on September 3, 2019.

The Toronto Elementary Staff is implementing a brand new literacy program for the 2019-2020 school year. The program will consist of myView Literacy, the Heggerty Phonics Awareness Program, and Wilson Fundations Program.myView Literacy is a comprehensive English Language Arts (ELA) curriculum for students in Grades K-5. It provides a balanced approach to teaching reading, writing, speaking, listening, and thinking through Reading and Writing Workshops. The all-new, print and digital curriculum includes authentic texts and mini-lessons, flexible resources, and meaningful differentiation.

Ohio's Third Grade Reading Guarantee is a program to identify students from kindergarten through grade 3 that are behind in reading. Toronto Elementary School staff will provide intervention and monitoring to ensure students are on track for reading by the end of third grade.
