Welcome Chemistry & Physics teacher Robin Lewis!
Prepared with degrees in Chemistry, Physics, and Math from Rutgers and Stony Brook Universities, Robin Lewis brings both expertise and enthusiasm to the world of science education. A proud native of West Virginia, she’s on a mission to inspire students to reach for the stars and explore fulfilling careers in science. This school year, she’s already counting down to her favorite astronomical event: the March 3, 2026 Lunar Eclipse. Her classroom motto, “We are all made of stars,” isn’t just poetic; it’s pure science. When she’s not in the classroom, Robin can often be found spotting four-leaf clovers with uncanny accuracy or putting the pedal to the metal as an ambulance driver at a racetrack. Her dream getaway is the sunny British Virgin Islands, and if she could instantly master any skill, it would be carpentry.

School Resource Officer Greg Mamula organized the Cops & Bobbers field trip for 7th and 8th grades students at Toronto Jr.-Sr. High School. The primary purpose of Cops & Bobbers is to encourage positive relationships between law enforcement and youth through fishing. The event was held on Tuesday, May 27 at Renegade Ridge in Bloomingdale, Ohio. Police officers from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, Ohio Wildlife Office, and THS teachers participated in the event. The Ohio State Patrol was originally scheduled to attend but were called away to respond to an accident. The Unionport EMS was on hand to provide medical services if needed. Thank you to Officer Mamula and all of the local law enforcement officers and teachers for making this a special day for our students!

The Lion's Club GOOD Awards were presented at Toronto Elementary School. The Toronto Lions Club has been sponsoring the award since 1995. This year nine students in 3rd-5th grades were honored. They were Fowler Vantilburg (3rd), Daniel Renforth (3rd), Eshaal Ali (3rd), Maverick Hannan (4th), Paisely Sutherin (4th), Noah Platko (4th), Alison Hughes (5th), Cayson Ternansky (5th), and Kameryn Bay (5th). The GOOD Award was created by Ron Derry. Mr. Derry developed this award with the belief that more emphasis should be placed on student behaviors within the school environment. He created a list of ten behaviors, which he thought would enable students to become GOOD citizens. These ten behaviors became the criteria for the GOOD award. Teachers at Toronto Elementary School were asked to select one student in their third, fourth, or fifth grade class who best exemplified these behaviors. Students who had previously won the GOOD award were not eligible to receive it again. The award is based on ten criteria: student attends school regularly; student completes homework assignments on time; student displays neatness and accuracy with all written work; student shows preparation for all announced tests; student shows interest in learning through means of appropriate questions; student is a good listener in class; student constantly shows respect for administrators, teachers, and all other school personnel; Student does his/her part to see the classroom is conducive to a good learning environment; student displays acts of good citizenship on a daily basis; and student has shown an act of caring towards another person in a difficult situation.
