First grade students in Mrs. Wright's room put their observation skills to work. They looked around outside and observed signs of spring!

Our students have been busy thinking like engineers this week! Engineers solve problems, design solutions, and build things that make our world work.
Students in 3rd–5th grade put their engineering skills to the test by designing and building working marble runs using paper towel rolls, tape, and construction paper. They had to plan, test, and improve their designs to make sure their marble could travel all the way through their run!
Our K–2 students explored what makes bridges strong. They watched two exciting bridge experiments, observed what happened, and discussed why some bridges are stronger than others. Then they designed their own bridges that could hold a very heavy train!
It was a great week of designing, experimenting, and thinking like real engineers!

Grades 3-5 tackled the "Broken Bone Challenge," engineering custom splints to repair and strengthen "fractured" craft sticks. Some students took it a step further and made a working "knee".
Grades K-2 became Germ Detectives, using glitter to track how easily "germs" spread and why hand-washing is so important! Students also drew a picture of themselves as doctors.
All Grades got to see a working lung model in action! Using a plastic cup and balloon demo, students observed exactly how our lungs inflate and deflate to help us breathe.
So proud of our curious thinkers and future doctors!

Thank you to the families for your support—we know their hard work will show!

4th grade students had their graduation from the Hancock County Savings Bank Vault Program today! Over 6 class periods, students learned about saving, investing, and spending money wisely. They will apply these skills to their Market Day project next month. After the graduation ceremony, some students were randomly chosen to participate in the "Cash Cube" and tried to grab as much cash as they could. They each received a voucher for the amount of cash that they grabbed and they will be able to use that voucher to open a free savings account at the bank! Thank you to Hancock County Savings Bank for letting us participate in this awesome program!!

🌟 Celebrating Positive Choices at Toronto Elementary!
At Toronto Elementary, we love recognizing students who go above and beyond to demonstrate what it means to be respectful, responsible, and safe!
Recently, these outstanding students were nominated by their teachers through our Positive Behavior Referral program. Each student was recognized for showing kindness, leadership, and a commitment to making our school a better place every day.
Whether it’s helping a classmate, staying focused on learning, or showing respect to others, these students are setting the example for what it means to be a Red Knight! ❤️
We are so proud of their hard work and positive attitudes. Keep up the great work—you are making a difference!
👏 Let’s give them a big round of applause!
